Text Color |
There is no consistency in text color
throughout the sight. In places, light green and light gray are used
for text. This is not too bad in some of the large titles, but for
small text it is hard to read. In the section titled Decorating
Studio, the following size, font, and colors are used;

Organization |
On the first page of the site, the left
side of the screen is dominated by a series of links. In addition
to universally recognizable underlining, font size is greatly increased
on link words. Also, the links appear in a right aligned column of
phrases. In some phrases the link is in the beginning and in some
the end, so none of the blown up font sizes line up, giving the page a
very ransom note like appearance. |
Capitalization |
Titles are mostly anti-aliased well, but
it is interesting that there is almost no capitalization in titles or at
the beginning of lines. This further increases the confusion in the
list of phrases mentioned in 'Organization' and takes away from overall
impact and readability. The footer link area is all capitalized,
giving undo attention to things like "SHOPPING CART" while still happering
readability by using all caps. |
Color Layout |
Pastel writing on white background
does not allow for easy readability but seems fairly balanced as laid out.
Unfortunately, the right side of the first page shows a random product
feature, many of which use a lot of high energy colors. The combination
makes the high energy colors glare and the pastels look sick. The
worst is one product feature with a child in a chair surrounded by other
furniture including a screaming red cabinet. All the product features
use large black text that is out of balance even when the products themselves
are somewhat neutral. |
